India’s First Post, a news website based in Mumbai, wrongly claimed that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was postponing a visit to India.

Now, the site has “withdrawn” its article and published an editor’s note reading:

“Editor’s note: In view of Microsoft’s strong denial that Nadella has put off his visit, we have reviewed the reporting that went into this story, and found lapses. The article is therefore withdrawn, with apologies.”

iMediaEthics has written to Microsoft and First Post to ask what went wrong. Microsoft declined to comment.
