Now that Covington Catholic student Nicholas Sandmann’s libel lawsuit against the Washington Post has been dismissed, NBC Universal has asked for his lawsuit against the network to be dismissed.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, NBC Universal requested a motion to dismiss July 29. The motion reads in part:

“The Court dismissed Sandmann’s claims against the Washington Post for several reasons. Each one of these legal principles apply to NBCUniversal’s reporting on this incident and this Court should reach the same conclusion here.”

Further, the motion claims, “This case is not about falsity. It is about a difference of opinion and perception.”

Sandmann’s lawsuit against the Washington Post was dismissed July 26, as iMediaEthics reported. U.S. District Judge William Bertelsman found the article “cannot be reasonably read as charging Sandmann with physically intimidating Phillips or committing the criminal offense of assault.”

iMediaEthics has written to Sandmann’s attorney and NBC for more information.
