Fox News put a “patently false” headline on a Reuters story about a climate change study, according to progressive media watchdog Media Matters.

Fox News headlined the July 4 Reuters story with “Reuters Bombshell: Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduce Global Warming.”

But, Robert Kaufmann, one of the study’s authors, stated in an email to Media Matters that the headline is wrong because “sulfur emissions ARE NOT GREENHOUSE GASES” (emphasis his).

And, greenhouse gases don’t “reduce global warming” according to the study, iMediaEthics notes.  Instead, greenhouse gases have a “warming” effect on the atmosphere.
