Vibe magazine’s editor-in-chief, Jermaine Hall, has filed a court order to out the identity of an anonymous commenter.  Hall also is alleging defamation and asking for damages.  The commenter, “BETonBlack” called Hall’s wife “an ugly wilderbeast” and published a picture of their child.  The commenter also alleged that Hall “hooked” his wife “up with contracts and clients.”

According to AdWeek, “race appears to have been the reason for BETonBlack’s venom.”  The commenter “took offense at the Halls’ interracial marriage and alleged that there are few black photographers, editors or writers” at Vibe.

The comments were made on Lipstickalley.com.

According to BlackStarNews.com, the case will be heard tomorrow in New York Supreme Court.  A New York judge, Eileen A. Rakower, didn’t see jurisdiction.
