Toronto Star public editor Kathy English reported in early July that the Star has an updated policy manual.  According to English, Star publisher John Cruickshank “affirms the importance of ethical standards” in the manual’s opening.

We asked English for more information about the manual.  English explained that the manual should be online in its entirety soon, but that the Statement of Principles is already posted here.  She noted that updates to the manual highlight digital media issues and that “the Star has had a policy manual for at least 20 years.”

According to English, the manual was last revised “in the early 2000s.”
